The unintended expat blogger behind JorVamItelSarn

Hi, I am Sofia
I work as a project manager. I'm a parent and an expat based in Lisbon, Portugal.
Several years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Relocating to Portugal wasn't part of the long-range plan. Like many international moves, it started as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something far larger.
The first few months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than necessary.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, ambiguity, and plenty of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines took shape. We found spots that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built JorVamItelSarn
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourist content. What was lacking was a frank, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice grounded in real-life experiences in Portugal.
What This Site Covers (And What It Isn’t)
This site features:
- Hands-on experience from living in Portugal
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site is not:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in Portugal continues, along with the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep noting what we learn.
If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sofia
